TXM are working with a transport service in Birmingham who are currently going through an exciting period of growth and expansion.

 

The role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Engineer to join our Engineering team. The main purpose of this role is to support the Midland Metro Rolling Stock department with technical management of the current CAF Urbos Tram fleet.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

· Overseeing the day-to-day technical management of the current CAF Urbos Tram fleet

· Taking ownership of fleet performance and safety

· Ensuring in service failures are correctly reported, rectified tracked, and closed out

· Analysing fleet data to find trends to help improve reliability and prevent in service failures

· Creating and updating key performance indicators to help visualise fleet performance

· Further developing the maintenance regime, including instructions, procedures and associated documents to help improve the reliability of the fleet and cost effectiveness of vehicle maintenance

· Investigating and reviewing all fleet safety related incidents

· Ensuring that rolling stock procedures and policies are up to date

 

What you’ll need

· A time served apprenticeship with experience of working in a technical engineering position

· Experience of finding and diagnosing faults in complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

· Experience of working with rolling stock in a depot environment

· Experience of reliability improvement / maintenance optimisation and / or modifications / engineering change

· Knowledge of rail industry standards in particular those relating to light rail

· Excellent communication skills

· Experience of leading others

 

Required Qualifications

· Professional Engineer or equivalent
