We are looking for an experienced Procurement/Purchasing Assistant to work for an engineering company out of their depot in Glasgow.

This role is a 6 month initial contract with possible extension and has an attractive rate (Ph) of £25.84 UMB or £19.23 PAYE (Inside IR35)

The role is working a 35 hour week Monday to Friday on Days

Applications are encouraged from those within the rail or engineering industries however others will still be considered

Your Tasks
  • Processing PO’s with approved vendors
  • Tracking deliveries and updating order records (e.g. dates)
  • Ensure all suppliers meet company’s minimum required specification on acceptable material quality, especially with safety critical parts
  • Support any function with Supplier related issues (first contact point)
  • Supervise overdue materials and parts with suppliers to effectively minimise any delays.
  • Amendment of re-order levels to eliminate shortages to bill-of-material issues
  • Arrange for prompt return for  repair/replace or recalibration of tools and equipment used for maintenance
  • Recognise risk and be able to pre-empt mitigate & find resolution of. 
  • Assist in the stores where appropriate

Your Profile
Essential: 
  • Sound knowledge of material supply principles, procedures and practices
  • IT skills in Microsoft Office and other applications used for stock management
  • Smooth relationships when difficult circumstances prevail and develop a culture of trust both within and outside the team
  • Demonstrable wide ranging business knowledge & experience
  • Is pro-active in the role and identifies improved ways of supporting the Company in managing their growth objectives
  • Have a proactive approach to working within a team environment and be willing to support the team in other ways


Successful candidates will be required to pass a Medical D&A prior to commencing any work
