Fleet Forecasting and Materials Planning Manager

Doncaster

Circa £50,000 plus benefits

 

We are recruiting for a Fleet Forecasting and Materials Planning Manager to join a major rail oragnisation based in Doncaster.

 

The successful candidate will have responsibility for forecasting to maintain stock holdings, availability and management of owner owned spares. Managing a small team to ensure that planning and engineering changes are done efficiently to ensure materials are always available for operational work.

 

Long term planning & management of significant & complex engineering challenges (overhaul work, project work, retro-fitting requirements etc.)  Ownership of budget and relationship with finance to manage the full stocking profile.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Stock Availability Management:

 

•             Monitoring of exceptions in materials planning system to ensure that required actions are taken in a timely manner

•             Approval of any significant amendments to order profile, in line with forecasted demand

•             Managing the impact of additional trains in service on supply chain to ensure service is still delivered effectively through accurate planning

•             Working with Procurement and suppliers to ensure that suppliers are able and willing to meet required demand

•             Liaising with project and engineering teams to ensure SKU adjustments in line with engineering changes, new projects, or customer variations

•             Provide regular and accurate reporting to service delivery management, accounting for previous issues, identifying future risks and suggesting mitigating activity

•             Management & monitoring of all aspects of the Engineering Change

•             Management & visibility of use of owner owned stock

•             Advance identification of any significant supply chain risks (for example retrofitting requirements, overhaul, or customer change requests)

•             Working with operational teams and the supply chain to develop workable strategies for these activities over and above the day-to-day requirements

•             Feed supply chain requirements into materials planning system and ensure required stock is available when required.

 

 

Team Leadership:

 

•             Ensure that the management and supervision of all personnel within the planning function is professional and effective identifying training and development opportunities to increase skills and improve efficiency

•             Build strong relationship with other key departments and adopt a collaborative approach

•             To be aware of and actively promote and implement company’s ethos, culture and values.

•             To be involved in company’s staff development and training and participate in PDP procedures

 

 

 

Required Skills and Experience:

 

•             Minimum 5 years previous experience in a demand planning role

•             Proven record of supply chain management – ideally in a critical spares environment, delivering high levels of stock accuracy and comprehensive stock management

•             Experience of managing a small team

•             Experience of SAP & demand planning systems

•             High competency level in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum)

•             Full Driving License required.

•             Ability to influence and measure the supply base to defined SLA’s and KPI’s

•             Excellent stakeholder management skills

•             Experience in working with complex, global supply chains

•             A natural problem solver – highly analytical with developed decision-making skills

•             Experience of and commitment to the effective implementation of equal opportunities and CSR policies.
