You will be dedicated to one specific area of the work packages which rolling stock projects are broken down into PIS, CCTV, Passenger Counting, Seat reservation, Wi-Fi, and Seat Occupancy.
Pay: £650
Location: You will be working at different sites from London, Midlands and Durham.
About you…
Applicants should be able to demonstrate all the essential requirements listed below:
- Good knowledge of train electronic systems, especially PIS, CCTV, Passenger Counting & Wi-Fi.
- Previous experience within a systems engineering role is necessary.
- Experience of designing/testing train or other electronic/software based embedded systems.
- Experience of requirements based systems development.
- Knowledge of concepts of real time systems.
- Knowledge of the UK/EU railway operations, Engineering and standards.
- Good English language skills. Ability to communicate effectively
- Ideally have a rolling stock background.
- Prior experience working in a global, multi-cultural environment would be an advantage.

Role responsibilities include…
Depending on the project, its scope, and stage within the lifecycle, as the Communications & Infotainment
Engineer, you may be expected to carry out or contribute to the following activities as required, with respect to
your work package area:
- Design/evaluate system architectures.
- Support the creation and development of System Requirement Documents (SRD’s) for third party suppliers.
- Be fully engaged on supplier selection, monitor and review all technical documentation received against requirements.
- Create / Update functional specifications and test specifications
- Support for upgrades of the on-train sub-systems throughout the product life cycle, starting from concept and proceeding to entry into service and support
- Support management of compliance evidence to produce compliance reports
- Traceability of sub-system requirements and validation evidence to the Train Specifications in IB DOORS database.
- Support on-train testing, this may include night shifs.
- Support and progress FCRs
- Conduct Functional tests on trains for Verification and Validation of Functional Requirements
- Review/Analyse test issues / defects, including analysis of IP traffic using Wireshark
- Prepare test reports and raise defects in the defects database
- Coordination and technical PM of the deliverables to be completed
- Formalisation and management of requirements through IBM Rational DOORS
- Technical coordination between projects, software developers and clients
- Provide support to all other functions in the areas of your technical competence.
