Are you looking to get into the rail industry then this job might be the job for you? Our client is currently looking for a Wheel Lathe Operator to join their team in Leeds on a permanent basis

 

As a Wheel Lathe Operator You will be based on a shift of 2 days on / 2days off, 07:00 – 19:00, 19:00 – 07:00 and have a salary of £36000 per annum.

 

A Wheel Lathe Operator you will undertake re-profiling of wheel sets, maintenance and repair of Traction and Rolling stock at their Leeds Vehicle Maintenance Facility.

 

Responsibilities of a Wheel Lather Operator whilst working in the role will include:

· Adhere to health & safety and local safety policy requirements, and other technical safety standards

· Ensure the clients, third party company engineering standards and procedures are applied and followed.

· Re-profiling of wheels sets using a Hegenscheidt wheel lathe, which includes crane, fork truck duties. Maintenance, servicing, and repair of the wheel lathe. Traction and Rolling stock repairs.

· Ensure all relevant paperwork for vehicle, wheel set examinations and repairs are correctly completed to company engineering standards

· Maintaining high standards of housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe work environment.

 

Requirements for a Wheel Lathe Operator

· Commitment to safe working practices.

· Apprentice trained or time served with an engineering/mechanical background.

· Experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance engineering activities.

· Knowledge of rolling stock and wheel defects would be advantageous.

· Good attitude and willing to learn.
