Location: Midlands
Pay: £19.13 PAYE.
Qualifications: Level 3 or apprentice trained.
We are looking for Welder Fabricators to join an expanding heavy maintenance team at a newly refurbished rail depot in the Midlands. Main duties will be welding old trains upgrading them to modern standards, you will also be involved in the welding of some of the UK’s main freight operator’s fleets of locomotives.
Key Skills:
Proven experience working from and reading engineering drawings.
Ability to work on own or with a team.
Ability to extract information from engineering drawings to layout and fabricate essential components of the locomotive using aids such as laser lines and other calibrated tools, working within tight tolerances specified to each job.
Experience in working with sheet metal and heavy plate.
Ability to use a range of manual fabrication equipment including, pan folder, track cutting torch, mag drills, pillar drills, guillotines, Mig/Mag welding sets, Oxy Fuel Cutting equipment.
Ability to work on own initiative to come up with viable solutions for any issues that arise during fabrication activities including improvement to makes tasks safer, quicker and more efficient.
Experience in Rail sector would be beneficial but not essential.
Ability to Tig weld would be advantageous but not essential.
Reliability and good time keeping.
Qualifications:
Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding or Apprentice trained
English and Math’s at GCSE or equivalent
Abrasive Wheels Training (Beneficial not Essential)
