TXM Recruit are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer on a permanent basis for a leading Supply Chain, Engineering & Manufacturing and Product Solutions business that works within the global Rail industry.


Role Responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical delivery of innovative and advanced embedded software systems
  • Lead and document peer reviews of other engineer’s software throughout the Stage Gate process.
  • Manage the specification, software concept, and delivery as part of an integrated project team
  • Participate and support the development and implementation of the wider business strategy for the UK and targeted overseas territories
  • Manage the technical risk register for assigned projects and ensure delivery of projects to Quality, Time and Cost against project plans.
  • Coach and mentor the Design and Development engineers to increase their technical competency
  • Ensure all Quality Procedures are implemented and followed to ensure that all activities within the Engineering Function are fully compliant with the quality management system

Role Requirements:
  • Background in software development in a safety critical industry
  • Experience of writing C, C++, Python 
  • Experience of designing interfaces to sensors, cameras, storage and networking devices
  • Experience of FreeRTOS
  • Experience of GITLab
  • Experience of Atlassian products
  • Experience of interfacing to FPGA and micro-controllers
  • Experience of developing software test cases, code reviews and static code analysis
  • Experience of hard, real time embedded software
  • Working Knowledge and application of Project Management Methodologies, e.g : Agile, Waterfall, critical path
  • Experience in a safety critical industry sector, the Rail industry is advantageous but not essential
