Length – 3X months
Purpose
- Operate with a certain level of independence while seeking guidance from your line manager and senior and lead engineers to effectively contribute to Team and Group goals.
- Assume ownership and accountability for test and turnaround requirements allocated by your line manager or senior/lead engineers.
- Proactively offer assistance to colleagues within the group and seek additional support from other engineers when needed.
- Play a role in advancing race car performance through involvement in R&D initiatives.
- Actively participate in achieving the Team’s main goal of maintaining a top three position in the FIA Constructor’s Championship consistently.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform validation testing and ensure compliance checks on car components according to predefined standards.
- Execute developmental tasks on car components adhering to specified criteria.
- Oversee the construction and implementation of R&D assessments, encompassing sensor configuration, data recording, and subsequent data analysis.
- Capture and document all pertinent information and data from tests digitally, aligning with specified guidelines, and integrate it into company systems for future reference and reporting purposes.
- Operate all relevant testing apparatus, equipment, and associated software proficiently and safely.
- Assist in addressing test inquiries and requirements as instructed by the R&D Test Manager, collaborating with engineers’ company-wide and providing regular progress updates to stakeholders.
- Contribute to the upkeep and ongoing enhancement of cleanliness and efficiency in the R&D workshop.
- Efficiently manage personal workload to meet strict deadlines and offer support for general departmental tasks.
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent familiarity with assembly techniques for both small and large-scale test assemblies.
- Comprehensive comprehension of various automobile components, their functions, and crucial performance and reliability aspects.
- Continual enhancement of skills in structural proof testing, durability, and fatigue testing, and systems sign-off to ensure car reliability.
- Proficient in utilizing company PLM systems, Microsoft Excel and Word, ATLAS, System Monitor, and other data logging software.
- Demonstrates initiative, analytical thinking, a methodical approach, and structured work habits.
- Possession of a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant and transferable field.
- Comprehensive understanding of business aspects affecting the R&D Department.
- Relevant experience in Formula One or high-level motorsport fields.
