We are a specialist Social Housing, Maintenance and Refurbishment Organisation with a proven track record of successfully delivering improvement projects for clients including local authorities and social landlords, private developers and landlords.
Founded almost 20 years ago, the business has grown to an impressive £15,000,000 turnover with further growth plans of trebling size in the next five years.
The business is a preferred contractor within the Public Sector and installs all manner of home improvements including durable fascia, soffit and guttering systems, kitchens and bathrooms.
An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Finance to join the business and help it grow to a £50,000,000 turnover.
Responsible directly to the Managing Director for the efficient running of the finance and administration departments. You are required to ensure that procedures are followed and deadlines are met always. Ensuring that company Health and Safety Policy and procedures are adhered to by all staff under your control. You will liaise directly with supplier and client staff maintaining effective communications for the management of accounts.
The role will require good IT knowledge, good communication skills and an excellent practical knowledge of accounting routines.
Duties / responsibilities
" Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
" Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
" Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including Income Tax, PAYE & CIS taxes.
" Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors as necessary.
" Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
" Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
" Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting.
" Maintain financial records for each contract to facilitate management reports.
" Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of individual projects.
" Manage the cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with company policy.
" Oversee the finance department function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. 
" Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation. 
" Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate.
" Complete full nominal ledger reconciliations at month end & make a trial balance comparison.
" Assist the Managing Director and senior management with financial reporting as required at monthly management meetings.
" Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
" Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and prepare the annual budget in consultation with the Managing Director and Senior Management Team.
" Ensure that accurate and timely financial statements are prepared in accordance with company timescales.
" Maximize income where possible and appropriate.
" Oversee and supervise the administrative function of the organisation including reception, property/facility management, safety of the work environment, and provision of furnishings and equipment necessary for effective operations.
" Oversee the management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments.
" Monitor all legislation relevant to the organization (employment standards, occupation health and safety, human rights, etc.) and all regulations on professional certification to ensure that the organisation is compliant.
" Provision of up to date accounting advice to the Directors.
" Carry out interviews and appraisals as required or directed by the company.
" Attendance at Management Meetings.
" Responsible for any other procedures deemed necessary on an 'ad hoc' basis by the
