A design and developer of aircrafts at a facility in Bedfordshire is looking for an experienced Head of Envelope Systems.

 

As the Head of Aerospace Structures, you have authority over consultants, sub-contractors and personnel from other design teams assigned to tasks under your control. You will liaise with civil and military airworthiness authorities on matters relating to fabric structures (e.g. the hull, fairings, ballonets, hull pressure system etc). As Head of Aerospace Structures, you will work closely with the Engineering team to develop the design specifications and provide technical management with suppliers to ensure they deliver the products to the system requirements.

 

The main objectives of this role are to act as the primary technical lead for defining, designing and developing the structure and ballonet fabric components and associated hardware for the hull and ballonet pressure control systems and rip system, you will work closely across all other areas of Engineering and Production to ensure that envelope and associated non-rigid systems are developed, installed and tested in accordance with the required company and legislative standards and procedures and you will represent the envelope systems interests at management level, and in discussions with suppliers, partners and customers, as required by the company. You will also update relevant departmental tools and processes to support business objectives where appropriate.

 

The successful Head of Aerospace Structures will have design analysis expertise in the field of fabric structures and pressure management systems, you will have a good understanding of CS xx.1309 (23,25,27 or 29) and associated guidance, you will have 5 years fabric design experience in an aerospace or similar high technology environment spanning concept design through to production and reliable operation in service. You will be educated to degree level in a relevant aeronautical or mechanical engineering discipline.
