To provide routine maintenance and reactive repairs to all building fabric across the site to meet agreed customer service delivery requirements. The engineer will have the ability to develop technical knowledge in more than one skill or technology area and have a requirement to work independently of the team as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • Approved and formal apprenticeship served in relevant skill area or proven relevant experience
  • COSHH awareness and awareness of working at heights and in confined spaces requirements
  • Good background in building fabric repairs and maintenance
  • Awareness of risk assessment & working safely with equipment
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and procedures

Main Duties

Planning and organising

  • Co-ordinate with helpdesk and site supervisor as appropriate to ensure work is undertaken & delivered to customer specification and agreed service requirements
  • Assess material requirements needed to complete tasks in accordance with company procedures 
  • Permits to work procedures are followed in liaison with site manager

Financial responsibilities

  • Ability to calculate the likely expenditure of materials required and can manage costs effectively
  • Understands and maintains purchasing within limits of authority in accordance with company procedures
  • Understands and follows the procedures for recording and reporting cost

Operational responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge of H & S & environmental regulations
  • Repairs and maintenance of building fabric across the site
  • Assist skilled engineers with fault-finding and reactive repairs
  • Assist with statutory routine tasks 
  • Provide event cover
  • Complete relevant paperwork and/ or electronic sign of for all assignments promptly & forward to helpdesk administrator

  • Understand and meet the customer’s requirements
  • Develop effective working relationships with business partners, suppliers and sub-contractors to improve operational performance
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with site staff
  • Fair and consistent attitude in all dealings at all levels
