Driver Manager – Railway Operations

 

TXM Recruit are working with an exciting an innovative TOC to recruit a Driver Manager who will lead a team of Driver Instructors, Train Drivers and new Trainee Drivers in the resumption of their train plan.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Effectively monitor and manage the CMS for all drivers, ensuring that all scheduled tasks are undertaken within the scheduled timescales
  • Effectively monitor all driver related Key Performance indicators providing reports regarding these as required
  • Ensure all Accidents, Incidents and Safety of the line incidents are investigated effectively and within the set timescales, making recommendations that manage the risk and reduce re-occurrences
  • Provide effective leadership to drivers, working to the highest standards and displaying the Vision, Values and Behaviours
  • Comply with relevant policies and standards and provide input to safety policy, standards and strategies
  • Undertake regular job chats and 1:1s with your team of drivers ensuring these are undertaken when scheduled focusing on the development and engagement of the people in your team
  • Provide day to day management of the drivers, including discipline, grievance, welfare and attendance
  • Build robust relationships with ASLEF at local level to maximise employee engagement and business productivity
  • Ensure that drivers’ route and traction knowledge are maintained, to meet business needs
  • Carry out on-call arrangements, and be available to provide the business with operational flexibility where required
  • Assist in internal and external audits, where required
  • Carry out any Health and Safety Inspections as required

 

Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of the Railway Rule Book
  • Experience of managing railway operations
  • An understanding of Human Factors and Non-Technical Skills relevant to an operational railway environment.
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Learning & Development Certificate, or equivalent
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Assessor Certificate, or equivalent
  • Qualified in Personal Track Safety
  • Qualified as a Train Operator Liaison Officer (TOLO)
  • IOSH Managing Safely Certificate
