Job Title:              CAD/CAM Programming Engineering                      

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for supporting with the day to day running of a small team of specialised CNC machine programmers, setters and operators.

The successful candidate will need to be dynamic and hands-on in their role to enable the demanding delivery requirements to be met, therefore, they will be expected to understand their workload at all times and communicate with the management team when required.

The components produced are used in a wide variety of sectors including Aerospace, Motorsport and Automotive applications all of which require exceptional attention to detail.

You will be able to manage the resources (materials and tooling) and provide strong technical support to the work flowing through production.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Ability to program, set and run CNC machinery.
  • Use of CAD to create part models and geometry as needed.
  • Use of CAM programming on multi-axis mill-turn machines.
  • Ability to determine optimal tooling and cutting parameters based on material and setup.
  • Understand and implement work holding for manufacturing processes.
  • Understand GD&T and apply it during the programming process.
  • Works with the production teams to create quotations for various products and projects.
  • Provides technical support (liaising internally or with customers regarding technical aspects).
  • Maintain revision and quality control on programs, tool sheets, and setup documentation.
  • Supports the Operations and Technical Team with Design, CAD/CAM processes, ensuring on time delivery is achieved.
  • Provides guidance on different approaches to development and delivery of solutions/systems that could yield better results.
  • Supports production and inspection activities following instructions and processes to ensure products are delivered effectively, efficiently, on-time, to specification and in a cost-effective manner to all quality expectations
  • Fully contributes to the process of continuous improvements and company goal of achieving zero defects and 100% on time delivery.
  • Actively supports and contributes to the operational excellence activities, inclusive of compliance with 5S methodology and the visualised management tools.
  • Ensure compliance to industry standards including: ISO9001, BSI 14001& REACH
 Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
  • Extensive experience in milling & turning is essential.
  • Our ideal candidate will have at least five years of CAD/CAM experience in a manufacturing environment and is able to read & understand technical drawings and determine best methods for machine holding and machining strategies.
  • Proven record in CNC machine operation and programming, using on machine and off line CAM methods.
  • Knowledge of HyperMILL, Mazak control systems and Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD software is an advantage, though training will be provided for any specific requirements.
  • Very good attention to detail to maintain or exceed high levels of production standards and efficiency with strong planning and organisational skills

  • Team player.
