Main Purpose of Job: Manage the ripening production and packaging of all the ripening categories using your supervisors / team leaders. The team will manage intake, storage, production and dispatch functions. Maintain and improve on service level targets and ensure that the team accomplishes this in the most safe, efficient and economical way. Manage ripening systems to optimise productivity and reduce waste.

Scope: Responsible for all ripening operations and 30+ staff and in excess of
£17m - £20m pounds of turnover and associated asset value in excess of £3m

Major Responsibilities and Task / Duties of the position
" Workings closely with the relevant supporting departments introduce a robust Ripening Management System ensuring full compliance with regular reviews / audits of the systems.
" Establish a working model in conjunction with the forecast model based on customer demand and historical data, this will include grower & origin performance paying particular attention to seasonality changes and effects on ripening process. Review performance by country of origin and feed back into commercial in terms of yield, waste downgrade and overall performance of fruit.
" Conduct required inbound inspections to ensure all fruit meets specific customer criteria, advise disposition of fruit accordingly prior to ripening process
" Coordinate with third party logistics company on site to ensure entire conditioning process is maintained to specifications including, unloading/loading rooms, load selection and staging, load building and truck loading
" Implement and maintain quarterly and annual hygiene and preventative maintenance program to include all rooms. This will be carried out by our hygiene teams and by third party Specialist Company on site.
" Liaise with Commercial, Procurement, Planning, Technical and quality assurance.
" Attend appropriate management meeting with the wider business to represent the function, recommending appropriate actions and objectives as a result of any direction taken from the meetings.
" Impart knowledge and experience gained to the business, in order to maximise business performance through continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
" Support the company strategic objectives
