We have a key engineering client looking for an Assembly Fitters on a 6-month contract based in Birkenhead.

 

As an assembly fitter you would be working 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday day shifts on a rate of £12.47 PAYE, which increases to £13.86 PAYE once signed off competent. There is also overtime available at a higher rate.

 

As an Assembler you will safely clean and dismantle rail equipment ensuring key parts are not damaged

 

Duties of an Assembler would include:

· Overhaul, repair, assemble and test a variety of equipment, including warranty returns, refurbished and new: calipers, actuators, discs, couplers, brake control equipment, etc. 

· Build test installations in line with test specifications and schematics.  Operate the same, interpreting results and adjusting units to required settings to achieve required outputs. 

· Where equipment does not achieve required outputs, does not fit together, etc. to investigate, fault find and diagnose likely causes and where possible correct the fault. Notify appropriate personnel of actual and potential problems.

· Operate monitoring, measuring and diagnostic equipment.

· Carry out minor maintenance tasks and specified routine preventative maintenance some of which may be outside the assembly areas.

 

Requirements of an Assembler would be:

· Pneumatic understanding.

· Fault finding skills, why tested units leak etc.

· Ability to understand drawings/specifications etc.

· Some form of mechanical engineering background, I.E., apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC etc.

· Previous experience in the overhaul of products.
