As a Service Technician, you would be working 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday day shifts on a rate of £12.47 PAYE, which increases to £13.86 PAYE once signed off competent. There is also overtime available at a higher rate.
As a Technician, you will safely clean and dismantle rail equipment ensuring key parts are not damaged
Duties of a Technician would include:
- Overhaul, repair, assemble and test a variety of equipment, including warranty returns, refurbished and new: callipers, actuators, discs, couplers, brake controls, etc.
- Where equipment does not achieve required outputs, does not fit together, etc. to investigate, fault find and diagnose likely causes and where possible correct the fault.
- Operate monitoring, measuring and diagnostic equipment.
Requirements of a Technician would be:
- Pneumatic understanding would be preferred but not essential.
- Ability to perform route cause analysis. (I.E finding faulty connectors, leaking pipes, etc.)
- Ability to understand basic drawings/specifications.
- Some form of mechanical background.
- Previous experience in the servicing, repair or overhaul of all types of mechanical components.
