The 2017 Formula 1 season gets underway this weekend in Australia and engineers, who were employed by TXM Recruit clients, will be gearing up for the first race of the year.
Jack Sycamore is the leading motorsport engineer consultant at TXM Recruit and his passion and knowledge of the sport has helped place candidates in pole position to work for some of the biggest names in Formula 1.
“We deal with Red Bull Technology in Milton Keynes and Mercedes HPP, which is the power-performance engine part of the Mercedes Formula 1 team at Brixworth,” explained Sycamore.
“Mercedes split their team into two. There is the grand prix team at Brackley and then there is their engine plant at Brixworth and TXM Recruit are the preferred supplier.
“I’ve been racing a Mazda MX5 at club level motorsport in a national championship based on the MX5 over the past five years. I’ve had some success and collected several trophies. This year I’m trying to move up to GT Racing where I’ll be up against Ferraris, Porches and Aston Martins.
“Recruitment is my Monday to Friday, 9-5, and racing is something I do in my own time over the weekends throughout the summer. My background and knowledge of motorsport is something that gives me an edge compared to some of the recruitment consultants from other companies.
“It gives me something Xtra to talk to the candidates about and something different, because a lot of the guys and girls that work in the Formula 1 industry don’t just do it for a job.
“A lot of the consultants at TXM Recruit have gone The Xtra Mile by coming through the industry; starting on the tracks and then coming through to help employ people by using their knowledge and interests.
“The guys who are part of the team all have a role to play to make sure the new components are ready when they need to be and that continues throughout the season. We’ve known it where our candidates, who now work within Formula 1, are getting things ready to be flown out that night to the next grand prix in just a few short days.
“Everything the engineers do at Red Bull or Mercedes is critical to what happens to the car which we all see on the television.”
