Job Description:

We are an industry leading professional services organisation seeing excellent levels of growth. Due to expansion we are looking for a Business Development Manager to cover the North West and parts of the North East. We manage clients' applications to HMRC in order to obtain Research & Development Tax Credits.
Based in or around Manchester it is your responsibility to build new relationships with like minded engineering or IT focused companies. You will research local SME businesses to understand whether they are applicable to claim Research & Development Tax Credits towards the cost of their R&D spend. It is then your responsibility to call prospective clients using your consultative, solution selling, negotiation skills with the aim of arranging a meeting and agreeing terms.
At this point the client is allocated a Technical Analyst who will immerse themselves in the R&D of the organisation and completing the application obtaining the most tax credits possible.
There is no upfront cost to the client as fees are paid upon successful completion of the application, meaning there is limited financial risk for the customer. Over 90% of all cases are accepted immediately and on 3 out of 620 clients are going through a compliance check.
As Business Development Manager you will work remotely (3 days on the road, 2 days at home approximately) generating leads and booking your own appointments. There are research and telesales teams based at head office who also assist with this process but you need to contribute at this stage as well. You will build key relationships with Chief Executives, Financial Directors and Commercial Directors (or anyone else that is responsible for tax credit applications) so it is important you are a professional and consultative individual. You will develop and deliver proposals with support from the marketing team and represent the business at trade shows and exhibitions.
You must be target driven, have a proven track record in a service selling environment and be consultative NOT transactional in your approach. You also need to have sold a professional services proposition to either the engineering or IT sector. You need tangible proof of your success and have a self motivated, driven, passionate approach to working for a true market leader.
You will be rewarded with a generous basic salary, OTE of £60,000 (Year One), enhanced mileage rates and the possibility of company shares in the future.
