Job Description:

Role - Senior Software Engineer
Location - Leamington Spa
Rate - £360 per day based on 40-hour week
Contract - Initially 9 months

We are looking to recruit a Senior Software Engineer, reporting to the Software Team Lead. The company is the global leader in the design, engineering, production, support and sustainment of tracked and wheeled military vehicles around the world. The successful candidate will be a key player within the Software development team working closely with Systems Engineering to add new capability. The role spans the full software development life-cycle encompassing requirements derivation, architectural design analysis, implementation, integration and test.

Responsibilities Include

o Interpret functional and non-functional software requirements embodying them in detailed software designs that align with the broader software architecture.
o Develop and update software solutions, using the C++ programming language, validating fulfilment of requirements and adherence to detailed software designs.
o Effectively identify defect and failure root cause, then using the knowledge gained, identify appropriate design and implementation changes to effect resolution.
o Perform all software tasks in full adherence to the project's software development process, associated policies and guidelines.
o Ensure component regression tests are maintained and extended in-line with new development and defect resolutions.
o Supply accurate effort and timescales estimates for assigned software tasks and report progress to line manager.

Required Skills & Abilities

o Professional experience developing distributed, multi-threaded, real-time software systems.
o Professional experience implementing software applications and services using C++
o Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
o Proficient in design capture in UML using Object Orientated Design (OOD) methodologies
o Familiarity with software configuration and change control best practice
o Strong communication skills including excellent written and spoken English.
o Hold or be capable of holding security clearance up to the level of SECRET.

Education & Experience

Essential
o BEng / BS Honours Degree in SW Engineering, EE, CS, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent (2.1 and above)
o Greater than 5years experience across Software Requirements Capture, Architectural Design, Implementation and Test.

Desirable:
o Experience of leading small groups of software engineers in developing new system capabilities
o Defence / automotive/aerospace industry background.
o Embedded System design.
o Rhapsody or equivalent UML modelling tool.
o MISRA C++:2008 guidelines.
o Static code analysis tools such as LDRA.
o Greenhills MULTI and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 development environments.
o SVN configuration management tool.
o GUI development using OpenGL.
